I like making complicated things feel simple.
I’m Robert “Bert” Bengtson, a software engineer and technical leader based in the Tampa Bay area. I studied computer science at St. Norbert College and have spent my career building web products and helping frontend teams do their best work.
A lot of that work has involved modernizing large e-commerce experiences with Svelte and SvelteKit. I care about accessible interfaces, maintainable systems, and creating a developer experience that helps teams move quickly without losing quality.
Outside day-to-day product work, I speak and teach about the honest parts of software: the tradeoffs, migrations, mistakes, and lessons that rarely fit in a polished demo.
